Marlaina Buch is a Victoria curator and artist. The Aboriginal Underground
Art Crawl was started as a way for her to address her own ignorance
surrounding Aboriginal art and culture and in response to difficulties her
peers were experiencing in navigating the gallery system. Her interest
in Aboriginal art stems from her childhood in Thunder Bay and contact
with the Anishnaabe community there. A strong committment to the
do-it-yourself ethos permeates her curatorial and artistic practice
and continues to drive her civic engagement.
